Is “Climate Change” Real?
So is Climate Change real and is it something we should worry about? As a physician I am a scientist and a scientist is one that gains knowledge from repeated research that proves factual evidence to obtain the truth. As a physician scientist my drive is to understand what causes disease, death and destruction. That understanding has expanded my search into the health aspects of our animals, our environment and Earth. Yet, there are reports that none of this is true. It should be quite apparent that telling lies, falsehoods, and manipulating the science are only tools to support the opposite position. By far and away these false reports are done for immediate gratification, usually in the form of gaining financial gain. We can certainly see this in our present governmental leaders. But we are being led like cattle into the deathly paths of slaughterhouses. If we continue to follow the paths of our ‘leaders’, we will all die very tragic deaths. I am not alone in this presentation. Let’s review the factual evidence that will prove that Climate Change is real.
NASA, the National Academy of Sciences, over 97% of the world’s Climate Scientists and hundreds of other scientists in all fields have confirmed that the evidence is overwhelming that Climate Change is real and presents a present danger. The most convincing report comes from the National Climate Assessment report which was developed and written by NOAA, NASA, the Department of Defense and experts at 10 other agencies. It was based on the most up-to-date scientific literature and matches the conclusions of thousands of other scientists around the world. Logic, common sense and factual evidence all fall into the same conclusion; Climate Change is real, it’s a ‘Man Made Disaster’ and we are on a rapid path leading to our own demise.
Even Wikipedia calls this time period the “Holocene Extinction” or “Sixth Extinction” and states “is a current event……The Holocene extinction continues into the 21st century, with meat consumption, overfishing, ocean acidification, ….. a cosmopolitan decline in biodiversity…and Human overpopulation are considered to be the primary drivers of this rapid decline.” Indeed this ‘Global Human Predator’ (GHP) is the most destructive predator that Earth has ever raised.
The ‘Global Human Predator’ has produce incredible waste products; this pollution is causing Climate Change that is dangerous now and will become much more dangerous in the future if we do not act. Many feel that the Tipping Point is either quite near or may have passed; that means that once the Tipping Point is reached there can no longer be salvation. The solution for (human produced) pollution is dilution; however mankind has used up the resources for dilution. Our forests have been cut down, our rivers are polluted, our oceans are acidic, are filled with garbage, nuclear waste, and plastic. Our air is full of toxic chemicals and when it rains, the rains contain toxic acid. It’s like living in a home made of wood and tearing down each wall to put in the fireplace to keep warm; it is not sustainable. This sounds bad but is it credible?
NASA has a web site, (https://climate.nasa.gov/evidence/) that proves beyond all doubt that we are in dire straights. The site lists Facts, Evidence, Causes, Effects, Vital Signs and Scientific Consensus to emphasize our present status. The following is a list of scientific evidence that presents overwhelming evidence: 1. Global Temperature Rise, 2. Warming Oceans, 3. Shrinking Ice Sheets, 4. Glacial Retreat (Glaciers are retreating almost everywhere around the world — including in the Alps, Himalayas, Andes, Rockies, Alaska and Africa.), 5. Decrease Snow Cover, 6. Sea Levels are Rising, 7. Declining Arctic Ice, 8. Extreme Weather Events, and 9. Ocean Acidification (plus Nuclear Waste, Human Trash, and Plastics). The evidence for rapid climate change is compelling. Yes, this is very credible.
Are we doomed? Certainly if we keep in the same behaviors the answer is yes so the question remains can we change our behaviors? Perhaps. We are a biological species ; that is we are living, breathing organism that have evolved to our present status. Biology does not exist without Evolution so we need to find avenues to alter our present evolutionary pattern of destroying the very thing that gives us life, Earth! So what is one of the primary evolutionary patterns that we as individuals can do to change our pattern? Animal consumption is a leading cause of planet destruction. We must become Vegan. Or at least reduce our consumption of animal products and find world avenues to curb the warming to find a stable state. It would highly unlikely that we would all become Vegan overnight.
The production of animal products for consumption is destroying incredible amounts of forestation which eliminates our oxygen in the air, pollutes our waterways, clogs the air with toxic substances and causes major illnesses, diseases, and death to our population. Medical science has proven that we are Herbivores, not Omnivores and certainly not Carnivores; our anatomical presentation and physiological functioning have proven that we are plant eaters. History and science have proven this over and over again. Men like Jack LaLane and Nathan Pritikin have shown us that eating plants is healthy. Scientists and physicians like Drs. T. Colin Campbell, Dean Ornish, John McDougal, Caldwell Esselstyn, Jr., Micheal Klaper, Neal Barnard, and others have and are leading the way to healthful living while proving beyond all doubt that consuming animal products has no advantage for us as humans, for the animals and especially for Earth. The most effective and immediate plan of action that each human on this Earth can do today is to stop eating animals. Can this Global Human Predator be redirected. Of course that remains to be seen.
When a physician receives a patient into the Emergency Room, the first and immediate procedure is to ‘Stabilize the Patient’ so we need to ‘Stabilize Earth’; we need to do that now. That’s an evolutionary move that is dictated by our present environmental status. That’s not a choice; that’s Earth is on Life Support so this becomes a life or death decision. Let’s make that a positive decision now to see if we can change our evolutionary status from this GHP (Global Human Predator) to a more sustainable species. Humans, can you hear me now, you are my only hope?
