Cheese is Dairy Crack
The Univ. Of Mich. did a survey of “Which Foods You Can’t Give Up” and here they are:
Number 5….Ice Cream; Number 4….Cookies; Number 3….Chips; Number 2…. Chocolate; and the number 1 is Pizza. Pizza with a half inch layer of cheese and sometimes even cheese stuffed into the crust!!! Well, Americans eat up to 35 pounds of cheese each year; that 65,000 calories a year. Hummm? Wonder why we are gaining so much weight? It is apparent that cheese is the primary ingredient in pizza and the primary reason that we eat so much cheese is because it tastes good and is actually addicting. Perhaps not in the same class as Heroine or Cocaine but not that distant either. Let’s take a look at how cheese is made.
Dr. Neal Barnard of the Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine coined that statement in his wonderful book titled, “The Cheese Trap”.
Most cheese is made from Cow’s milk, now Cow’s milk has lots of nutrients which the calf needs to grow. In fact a newborn weights less than 70 pounds and needs a lot of nutrients for rapid growth. which contains a substance that makes the calf want to drink more, called Casein. This is natures way of making sure the calf gets all the nutrients it needs to grow from a tiny 70 pound calf to a 700 pound cow in less than 7 months. Weaning usually occurs in about 7 months when the young cow begins to eat grass. The young cow now weights over 760 pounds; a weight gain of approximately 700 pounds in that short time!!! Casein is a substance that when metabolized becomes casomorphine, an opioid peptide having an affinity to our specialized, pleasure seeing neurotransmitters. This is why the calf keeps going back for more and gains all that weight; and that’s why cheese is so partially addicting to us.
How is cheese made? First of all, keep this in mind, it takes 10 pounds of milk to produce 1 pound of cheese so we can see that the addictive compound that keeps calf’s to grow from 70 pounds to over 700 pound in 7 months has been condensed to a much more addictive substance. Milk is deposited in a large vat where various substances are added; first is a bacteria called Brevi, the same bacteria that grows between your toes and gives you stinky feet. Then Rennet is added; Rennet is an enzyme obtained from slaughtered calves stomachs, (thought the cheese industry does state they can make their own Rennet); this is to form ‘curding’ and to really add insult to injury, salt is added. Milk also contains hormones such as estradiol, saturated fat, and pus. Pus?!!! Really? Yep, our own FDA allows 400 million pus cells in each liter because Intense Dairy Farming (that’s what they call it) causes severe mastitis from constant milking. If you are still with me Cow’s milk (noticed that I said Cow’s milk here…it’s not ours. It belongs to the calf, which is immediately removed from the mother. They are killing the closest bond in nature by stealing the baby which if it’s a little boy calf, will be killed soon after for veal or leather. The girl calf is put into small cages, and when she can reproduce she is locked in a metal vise, a worker then rams his arm into her ass and, with a rape rod, injects semen into her uterus to begin the series all over again.
Still hanging around the Ice Cream Parlor? Oh, we are not done yet; we still have hormones, IGF-1, proteins, and calcium to look at. For example, a glass of milk (or a bite of cheese) has 35 hormones and 11 Growth factors including IGF-1, a cancer producing hormone. And Cow’s milk has a lot of protein….don’t we need protein? Well yes but not the amount of protein in the milk for a calf. A calf’s weight gain is 40 times the weight gain of a baby (human). And cow’s milk has a lot of calcium; 120mg/100ml which is 4x the amount in human milk for babies. The calf has a much larger skeleton in 7 months compared to ‘baby’.
What about the issue of Lactose Intolerance that is so common in our society today. 3/4ths of the world’s population is ‘Lactose Intolerant’ because most of us stop producing ‘Lactase’ after infancy…usually in connection with the weaning process. Lactase breaks down the Lactose (a type of sugar produced by mammals) into Glucose and Galatose which is used by the body for energy. Once nature takes over and we no longer need Lactose, Lactase production fades away….and we become Lactose Intolerant. We can no longer tolerate Lactose because we have no way to metabolize it. Fermentation begins, bubbles form, hydrogen is produced, we become bloated, have abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea/vomiting, or any number of symptoms could arise. We do not Tolerate Lactose anymore!
Casein and Cancer:
Weight Gain: Animal protein plus fat = stored calories as ‘Body Fat’.
Plant protein = calories are burned for energy; limited storage is needed as Human Herbivore needs to eat frequently while a Carnivore can eat once a week or so.
