“Canaries In The Earthmine”
Chirp, chirp, chirp; can you hear me now? We are the canaries in a poisoned Earthmine. Here our Earthmind is the Earth’s atmosphere which extends about 300 miles out; this atmosphere near the earth contains just the right amount of oxygen (21%), nitrogen (78%), and protects us from radiation death from the Sun. This atmosphere is where life began and where life is today. We are the canaries.
A canary in a coal mine is an advanced warning of some danger and is a metaphor originating from the times when coal miners used to carry caged canaries while at work; if there was any methane or carbon monoxide in the mine, the canary would die before the levels of the gas reached those hazardous to humans.
And a report from London this same month stated “The population of the planet’s vertebrates has dropped an average of 60% since 1970, according to a report by the WWF conservation organization. The weekly reports keep coming in. Can you hear me now?
Will we be the only animal species the self destruct; are we just an experiment in life…. and death. Some experts say we only have 12 years to prevent Global Climate Change. Our Earth is 4.5 Billion years old, it has had 5 previous extinctions of life as we know it and we are rapidly headed for number 6. Number 6 and the only one caused by mankind; this one will be quite a show! Floods, fires, hurricanes, pollution, starvation, sickness, and death will be rampant once the tipping point takes effect.
There is a wonderful Native American Cree quote, ““Only when the last tree has been cut down, the last fish been caught, and the last stream poisoned, will we realize we cannot eat money.”
